It's possible to make a good aligned character or evil character that doesn't view the opposite with such pent up rage that they spend their entire life trying to destroy it.
There's this thing is social psychology circles called "superordinate goals" that they've used in the past to destroy such societal mainstays as racism, prejudice, stereotypes and other forms of hatred. Basically it's bringing the two sides together and giving them a task that they have to work together on to complete successfully. 90% of the time this task reduces the problematic emotion.
Remember that scene in Volcano where the racist cop and the African-American work together to lift the concrete divider? There's something from pop culture that I'm sure you can relate to. Stopping the lava was the superordinate goal and they saw through their interpersonal difficulties and were able to work together.
The world isn't in black and white. Every storm giant that is rolled up doesn't automatically despise fire giants. There's these things called cookie cutters, you should try breaking them some time, that's where the fun is.
