...I don't think so in this instance.
The transmuters already have several different forms to choose from:
Water,Air,Offense,Defense, and Utility.
Thats 5 different foci with 3 major forms and
2 minor forms for each with a total of about 25
common forms. Not to mention the various quest
forms (displacer beast, griffin, grizzly bear,
bullete, etc..)Added to that, they get the choice
of Hold/Duo with arcane foci, instead of their major form.
Only one other class comes close to this kind of variety and versatility in thier choices, and that would be the warrior class.
(Choice of spec. focus)
So honestly....you've nothing to gripe about...the IMMs have done quite a job giving us this many choices for trannys.
IMHO, I think they're the most versatile, choice-driven characters in the game.
(and would you want to be the IMM programming more forms when you've got so many already?)
As far as choosing your own form?
Well...we'd get almost nothing but lions, porcupines, sharks, wildcats and eagles.
Players all want a good form, and no one would pick something they thought was a lesser one.
As a former tranny, I got a 'poor' form...but after a while learning it's particular strengths and weaknesses, I found I liked it, and was glad I didn't get the 'power' form afterall.
(Basically some people won't try new things unless they're forced to.)
But, having said all that, I'll now contradict myself:
If I could make one change in the trannies, it wouldn't be this:
Make them more difficult/interesting to fight with. (yeah...it would be a pain in the ass to program)
What I mean is, instead of flyto-murder/flyto-murder/dead ad nauseum or murder/rake/rake/dead,
or dodge/snore/dodge/snore, or swimto/murder/swimto/murder, give some skills (even if the forms had to be powered down to compensate)
to the form (based off of the trannys skill with their normal skills perhaps? (for sea serpent perhaps a constrict skill based on lash%)(so the player doesn't fall asleep of boredom while shape shifted)
(yeah, I know they could un-shift and use spells, but this would make the shape more interesting---I told you I was contradicting myself :P)
oh well...just a thought
