Text-based muds really don't transfer large amounts of data at one time.
(how much bandwidth do you think one round of combat takes?....Answer:not much)
You're problem is that the small packets of information that does get sent to your machine, get held up somewhere.
(or it could be just CF being slow('global lag' as it's usually called by players)...that has been happening a lot lately too)
This is generally only a problem for online gamers (quake, starcraft, CF, etc..), so ISP's usually don't care a whole lot about it.
