Not true. Arcane muters are certainly worth it just not the
easiest to play.

> The lag on duo sucks.

Yes, it does.

> You cannot do a gobal where with duo.

Honestly, unless people are really looking.. if you
pop out doing a global who they won't really notice
and when they do, you'll be duo again, and they'll
be freaking out.

> Hold misses ten times more than halt.

If you land a hold, more than likely you'll get the
kill. You can survive being halted. Sometimes.

> Some people have suggested giving them more spells, like some of the old offensive sprays.

In lieu of the sprays, you'd have to take away shapeshift...
and honestly I'd rather have shapeshift. Prismatic spray was
one of the muters more powerful spells but overall it was
pretty weak.

> But why not just give Arcane muters shapeshift skill? I know it is supposed to be for shifters, but it isn't like it would make them overpowered. They would still get just minor forms, but with shift skill they would have more flexablity. Look at what an arcane muter has to do now days to attack someone from duo. They need to unduo (lag)...cast shape (lag)....enliven (lag)

This is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it's really a
solution. I had to really pick and choose where I could use my form
because of the lag associated with duo, shapeshift, and enliven.
Either I went into a fight planning to hold, or I went into a fight
in form. It was kind of fun trying to find the best situation for
each.

> Haven't played one in awhile, but I think I am close on the lag. By that time, the arcane muter is either dead or the target ran away.

Well.. no hero is going to run away from a minor form unless it's on
the water. My wolf would have gotten it's ass (and did get it's ass..)
kicked by other heros. I fared much better with the cheetah.

> I would say allow them to shape from duo...

Heh. well... I guess you haven't played one in a while.

> they still get the lag from coming up of duo but they would be in form with all controls up. It gives them a quick surpise form that if used right can be deadly (like the German U-Boat). Now days, with all the lag they have and the fact that everyone uses macros and stuff, it is almost stupid to unduo because they would get clocked in normal mage form. At least a minor form would give them a little chance to do something besides trying to throw a uselss hold around against a beserker that will spellbane and kill them in one round. At least a minor form might allow them to live two rounds. Arcane muters are a far cry from the early days when hold never missed. I think they need something.

hmmmm if this feeds back to the shapeshift skill idea, it's
not the best one because you want the two types of transmuters
to be differentiated to a degree. You just have to be smarter
when playing an arcane.
