After fighting every kind, I can see the weaknesses
and the benefits of each of the different kind of villagers.
But the one kind of villager that is greatly lacking in
ability is the Defender. One would think a Defender would be
a better defender of the village than say a berserker, but it
just does not seem to be true. Since Berserkers not only get
big damage in deathblow and do not have to type anything in for
it to happen (unlike scouts) makes them the best offensively
(understandable). But what is so strange is that a berserker villager
is also better defensively which I believe they should not.
The Berserker is all about getting angry and causing damage to
anyone who stands in their way, illustrated by their powers, poncho,
bloodthirst, deathblow. But why should they get a defensive ability
with bloodthirst, area spellbane?. A berserker should not even care
about taking damage, it is just dealing damage out, the Defender should
have more of the position of "I cannot do big damage, but I can wear
you down because you can't hurt me and I can heal myself."
Right now Defenders eat damage way quicker than they should. I see defenders
take more damage in one spell then they can heal. Basically, they just die.
My suggestion, berserkers loose area spellbane, because right now there
is no player reason to be a Defender except to make your life much
more difficult and have nothing on Berserkers except a much lower con.
Give Defenders area spellbane all the time. Their spellbane power is well,
area spellbane. Give Berserkers some form of weakness. Because I know as
well as anyone else that there is no way I can stand in front of Minalcar
or any of those other berserkers very long even with all my protections and
such. So instead, I just have to kill them when they sleep in front of me
and I am forced to hold them up and fumble them and kill them with a staff of
striking (thats for you Minalcar). And before anyone says that bloodthirst has
its "drawbacks", I have played a villager and damn, bloodthirst was one of
my best friends. yes there are places where you would not want it, but being
able to choose when you do it, and having it so that you don't lose movement when
you are thirsted and that flurry movement loss does not matter to you and added
on top of that all the benefits you get from hit, "haste/+17 +17 and - to ac"
greatly, and I mean greatly, outweighed any drawbacks you can see. Bloodthirst
utilized with any form of intelligence and understanding of the situation will
greatly lower the drawbacks, believe me I have done it. So in final, take area spellbane
away from berserkser, give it to Defenders all the time. Give PLAYERS a reason to
play Defenders instead of just giving them "roleplay" reasons to, and placing
the "I'm going to die quicker than any berserker" message on their forehead.
Good war, and Lauderan and Minalcar, you boys are taking
this war a little too seriously, I mean damn guys relax and
play!
