Well, making it so pets were saved would be a simple coding matter, that's not the issue. The problem is, losing your pets is one of the necessary drawbacks of the classes.

If Necros didn't lose their zombies on a crash/quit, then every necro in the mud would have 3-5 level 60 (or higher) zombies, and would never die to players. That's something any sane immortal is not going to allow.
