Pretty much. A few other tips:
1) Always roleplay (you should be doing this anyway...but if you're looking to immort..you better damned well be doing it)

2) Know and follow all the rules....ALL of them.

3) Make sure you have time to dedicate to being an immortal (having patience helps as well)..but without time, you'll wash out...and you really don't want to do that.

4) understand the game itself...by that I don't mean the mechanics, and how to pk (though that will help you make it to hero) but the feel and atmosphere of the game...if you don't understand that...stay mortal, make another character up to hero.

5) Make sure you really really want to immort, it's not that glamourous (really) and will forever change the way you view the game.
