Did you even read the note? This is the exact problem (more text):

Considering the note clearly said THREE o'clock central time today, did you even read it? More likely, you heard second hand. BT told all of the ragers that their aid was directly needed to save the village. Not even a handful bothered to respond. The note also left a provision for how to excuse yourself from the quest time, once again, leading me to believe that you didn't even read it. It was only up for a week.

To amend your statement, if you want to join battle, expect to be active or not at all. Participate in the quests or once again, not at all. How many other cabals have such regular quests? How many cabals have ANY quests? I never saw one in any of the ten imperials I've played in the last year. I think I saw one or two while a Master (not recently). Entropy? Hah. Troupe is the only cabal that remotely resembles battle in terms of regular 'activities'. I'll always consider myself a die-hard rager, and a year and a half ago, I would have given my left nut (Well, maybe Istendil's left nut) for there to be an immortal watching over battle who had even a passing interest. I can't even remember the last time I saw Vassagon visible or Nimbus for more than 10 'novelty, look at the who immortal list' seconds. Its pretty obvious that Minalcar pissed off a lot of ragers and they've gone on to play empires and masters...the quality of the last two weeks' inductions have been less than stellar. Many of these people clearly aren't in the cabal for the Roleplay. There have been two quests which lead to the entire cabal getting booted for not bothering to even answer the note with a simple 'uh, 3pm? that's 3am where I am, can I get a raincheck?' or whatever. I say good riddance to the idiots. And for those non-idiots, you screwed yourself by thinking the call for aid for the village didn't include you. Once again, the note clearly said that if you couldn't be there, send a scroll saying so!!! Argh! Choking on my own bile here!
