> While we're at it, there should be an area called the Freeway, which straight east-west through all the cities, including Aran-Gird and those. There should be big signs saying things like "Tower of Trothon- Right Lane, 2 paces", and information kiosks with courteous helpers and pamphlets about local tourist sites. And taglo jerky stands (with the prices jacked up) every few paces for weary travellers.

> If you've ever seen a road plan for a medieval city, they were built like freakin' mazes for the most part, usually from being slowly expanded over many years, rather than actually being planned. Actually, long straight roads would favor raiding and such, although at least this city is gated. Scarabaeus was definitely aiming for a "different" look with this city... I'm all for it being less grid-like.

Without knowing more, I'm inclined to say that's a somewhat reasonable suggestion, just for the sake of convenience. Every good-sized city I can think of (except Ofcol, which sucks, and Arkham, where it wouldn't be possible since the main road turns due north) has a major road or other thoroughfare that can be traversed by spamming in one direction.
