Duels in the city are stupid for more than a thousand reasons, the biggest of which is if you die you're very likely to get looted.

If you want to duel, walk the 30 steps to the Eternal Star, or take it into the sewers, or the docks, or the Copeham inn, or into the air, or onto the rainbow bridge, or into the graveyard, or blackclaw or the outskirts or any of the other bazillion places you could go that wouldn't take more than 15 direction commands and do it there.

If you want the fame and the glory take it to the Inn and have a Trouper send a note to all about it. Otherwise, there's no reason to want to have duels in the city other than so you can abuse the privilege to avoid flags.

Player A yells 'We duel!'

Player B yells 'Help! Player A is attacking me!'

Player B tells you 'Player A just killed me in town'
