There is the idea that the future can be changed. Protecting the past is really a roleplaying
choice. Since the void provides that access to some Warders it may be worth a try.

I think it can be. It's not "required". It depends on your character's take.

As I stated above, I think it's left to the individual. I could have
easily stated as you have, and I imagine Sebeok wouldn't have booted
my ass. If your character believes in the "here and now", I can't see
why you'd waste time protecting the past.
