Well, they're not listed on Dioxide's chart, but the official page and helpfiles say they exist. =)

Normally, svirf mages are awful because:

1) 18 int means that practicing spells is not going to be fun.
1b) You aren't going to have a ton of mana, either.
2) Detect invis isn't such a useful racial bonus.
3) Gnomes exist.

But for a Master Conjurer, would Svirfs be viable? Mastering spells is less necessary for a conjuror than other classes, and Tome can help considerably. With 22 str and 22 con, you should have good base hp, wield nicer axes, and be able to carry lots of crap for preparation. You'll have less free trains than a gnome, but you'll probably stack up well against a human or elf. (4 pracs/level instead of 3, but you'll need to spend two per skill/spell unless you're a masochist. Also, svirfs can roll better stats than humans, so they can channel trains into hp earlier.)

For the mana, magical control is a life saver here. By the time you get up in ranks, you'll be able to max out your conjurations anyway.

Transform might not be as profitable, but with the high base hp, you might be able to give up a couple pieces of +hp gear for the more available big +mana items.

Plus, you'd get that warm, fuzzy feeling of playing a less standard race/class combo.

Thoughts? Comments?
