Someone once said that there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics -- which is not necessarily true, but it's not that hard to find statistics to prove anything.

There are about a whole three paladins that I see really tearing up evil PCs. Number of shielder paladins on that list: zero. Coincidence? Maybe. Disclaimer: This should not be taken to say that there aren't definitely some shield spec paladins doing more than all right for themselves.

Yes, the shielder paladin is a better tank. Yes, a shielder paladin is better if you never actively use your spec (i.e. type in commands relating to your spec). There's a price to be paid for the versatility you get as a 2Her. If you don't want to pay it, don't.

I could see one or two areas where I might make small changes in 2-hander paladins and see what happens, but then, I can see one or two areas where I might try changing almost any class or specialization in the game. On the whole I think they're pretty good. If you disagree, I'm not going to force you to play one.

Other points raised in this thread:

Anyone who thinks boneshatter is a sure thing is a crack monkey -- and I don't mean the nice, well-groomed kind of crack monkey you sometimes see for sale at PetLand.

Anyone who thinks they can make a paladin and clean up by mindlessly spamming wrath is invited to give it a shot. Most paladins will find that even that has gotten more interesting in several ways with the revamp.
