As far as I know, it's always been 1/3. When I get home, I'll see if I can dig up the log of Qeronoth (Empire human conj #4 or so :P) dying two mob deaths and three familiar deaths in a 5 minute span (it wasn't pretty... that Balator elder acid blasts at the worst times... grr).

Every conj I've ever had has lost at least 2-3 fams to lag or unlucky rounds from mobs, but then again, I got the impression that I used my fam much more actively than most people... probably had it with me or near me 95%+ of my life.
