I have mine (currently playing a conjie) around at least 50% of the time. I think it all depends on what do you want it for. If it has detect hidden or a detect you're currently missing, it's good to have around most of the time, if not, I only call when needed. And unless it has some immunity *wink* I can use in battle, I don't bring them to any fight at all.
Since I genneraly choose to have the owl/raven, homonculous or monkey, you get the picture. I believe you get the raven most of the times, right? *wink wink*
