The original poster sounded like he wanted a class with magic-like abilities, but not a pure mage, and he was tired of APs. I pointed out that mechanics-wise, a bard fits the bill. Nice defense on those bards, if not much offense.

Obviously, a bard can/should have a very different role, possibly including poems, stories, and the like, as is pointed out below. If the poster took my advice to try a bard, I hope he'd try to incorporate that.

I hope no one thought I played Ingvar "like a warrior with spells", in any case.

And I never said Arlian had -no- verbal skills. Unfortunately, he did attempt to converse once in a while. I merely stated that he "had the conversational skills of dry toe fungus."
