The main thing is, if it's long, just make sure it's relevant. There are a number of people out there writing these rambling roles that talk about the Wheaties they ate for breakfast, which shoe they tied first, and how many times they prayed at the Shrine of Sog. If any of us on the immstaff have to keep cutting through fat to get to the meat, then you're going to have a hard time getting us to take the role seriously.
Although I'd like to say that Quality is better than Quantity, I'd have to follow that with a quick "but if it takes me 2 hours to read it and you're only level 10 wanting to get empowered by me", then I'm likely to put it off til I have more time, which may mean you get ignored for a while.
