He believes, as would I, that the lesser spells like detect invis are transmutation spells(it can be argued that it's their spell since they alone can cast it on others, showing some form of mastery of it).

This is a really strong point. Techincally he shouldn't dismiss or induct Hruptek based on differing views.
The Tower is about learning and about Mastery. A minus level 20 mage shouldn't have all the answers, and from
his experiences might have different answers to questions. Of course in this case we are talking about a high
level Master mage...

Now.. what if Narlock's assertions were validated by Nepenthe? If so, then it is Nurlock's duty to let the Tower
know. No? (*mutters quietly about a fantasy realm that doesn't have a specific God of Magic*)

Remember Imb that Nurlock has to be his own person. That may be a stubborn, close minded mage who believes that
other mages of the Tower are misguided. This can make him act rather harsh towards those he believes to be
misguided. His leadership is a reflection of the role his character decides to take. There has to be room for
that otherwise the game gets a little boring.

Personally, I disagree with some of Nurlock's assertions, and to be honest, I thought the decision to dump
Hruptek had already been made. However, we have to leave room for the possiblity that this is very much in line
with Nurlock's role. He wouldn't be the first 'I'm not going to take any shit from you' Master leader type.
