We should all have it out here and now - Rager powers are overpowered? Or Rager powers are newbie powers like people say Master powers are (mimic powers or abilities game knowledge will grant you)?

> I think comparing "damage on a stick" to damage you have to go out and collect is a weak way to approach the argument.

Possible.

> I'll take the easy call-it-and-it's-there damage over the 4 hour long trek into the very depths of Hell to come out with nice damage dealing equipment or the killing of really heinous beasts to come out with a neato uber-deadly wand or stave.

Well, I wasn't comparing DB to a handful of highly limited items, I was comparing it to every "big damage kick ass power" out there that are normally available to non-ragers. This includes class spells/supps (geyser/wrath/demonfire), wands/rods/staves/potions/scrolls, and special pieces of gear not extremely difficult to find (necklace/helm/ring/et al). I was saying that very rarely do you die or kill with standard physical attacks - by and large it's a big damage strike. This big-damage strike is unavailable to ragers without DB.

Anyway, what are we comparing ragers to when we say they're overpowered? To Mages? To Warriors? To Priests?

I can see a legitimate complaint coming out of non-rager warrior's mouths that ragers are overpowered. But, a non-rager warrior can mimic the rager's abilities:

truesight: discussed.
resist: discussed. (you can resist yourself more than the rager, in fact)
spellbane: don't need it to fight a rager.
area spellbane: don't need it to fight a rager.
haste: discussed.
Deathblow: Well, here is where you have to be smart as a non-rager warrior. You can compensate for deathblow by making it difficult for the rager to lag you (using magic unavailable to ragers), or stocking up on protections (using magic unavailable to ragers), or decent tactics of choosing a good scene for the fight and/or making the insta-attack work to the rager's disadvantage. In otherwords, yeah, you can't march up to the Eastern road without any protects or affects and beat the crap out of a RBW, but you can spell yourself up and take him down at a place to your advantage.

Anyway, I wouldn't want to play a warrior cause they're too limiting, but then, I wouldn't want to play a rager for the same reasons. To sum it up, ragers are not overpowered. They have newbie skills that reflect abilities that other classes have or can get with game knowledge, and those rager skills come with severe disadvantages.
