I generally avoid the Troupe, probably because I've had a hero immortal, but I'm finding that it's not fun to play someone that has no threats within the game. Even as Imre I would end up driving away Nastavnic or something away from the Inn repeatedly, and sure, even though that got repetitive, it was fun.

Most of the troupe just sit there and roleplay. I'm not completely knocking pure roleplaying, but these are the fields of death! Sure, if you want to go ahead and roleplay a completely non-aggressive character, go ahead, but then again, that seems to be the purpose of the Dawn, right? Though, the Dawn has idiots that can't roleplay, so I can see what you're getting at.

> For a similar reason, there's usually a lot of decent role-playing in the Dawn cabal (amongst those who aren't totally new to the game, and even then it gets cranked up a notch by those around them).

> Experienced players choose one of these cabals because they've got a concept that they want to try out, or seek the challenge -- not because they want deathblow or scourge or centurions or manacles or whatever. Because of that, you tend not to get the weenies that those other cabals *can* attract. (No, I'm not calling you a weenie if you're a Masters/Ragers/Arbiter/etc. but you know that you've got cabal-mates who *are*, right?)

Dawn, not have weenies? You're joking, right?

Nah, if you want a true challenge, play a Scarab, or a religious zealot like Caecus was. Caecus had no powers and probably the worst set of enemies the world had (Empire and Sylvan were both dominant, and most of Master was Empire's quisling) - and he was damn fun just because of that. Sure, I got killed a lot (arial sword/pole spec uncaballed will do that, when fighting Sylvans that were just broken at the time - Voss/Rozanov with bearform was just scary)

Anyhow, "real" cabals are more fun than the Dawn or Troupe, most of the time, I'm not saying they're a different kind of fun, because I personally play CF for the bloodthirsty crazy characters I end up doing, but - the best characters are the ones that do end up fighting that have a story to them. If you've got a story to you, and you aren't out there risking your dome, then there's no point in playing the character, unless you have some penchant for sitting around and telling stories.

> This is not to say that other cabals don't RP -- far from it. Everyone can think of some stellar role-playing that's come out of each and every cabal in Thera. I simply think that for Troupe (and, to some extent, Dawn) the median RP level is higher than in other cabals for the reason stated above.

Here, I will agree to a large degree, though Master has some good roleplayers, as does the Empire. Though, you're not likely to find them in the general population of either of those cabals, really. Entropy has some interesting folk (albeit many have no concept of crazy) and so does Sylvan.

Stellyx, if you want, drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you.

Imre/Caecus/a lot of others.
