My character's opinion of Narlock aside, he was on a lot, interviewed a lot and while they may have been long interviews compared to previous adminitrations at least they happened. It's not unusual lately to log in after being away for 12 hours and find 1, 2 some days 3 new applicant's scrolls. That's a mind boggling pace for a leader to try to keep up with. I don't envy any leader that job. Personally, I give what I think is a basic "Tell me about yourself, magic and prove to me you're not an idiot" recommendation interview and I think my shortest to date was 45 minutes. And that was just because the guy was so clearly quoting me word for word what Narlock wanted to hear I just stopped listening because the guy had obviously done his homework. Every answer he gave me was "Well I have two theories on that" Which translated into "This is my theory, but let me also give you this one which just happens to be Narlock's." Usually I find them going over an hour. I don't want them to go that long it just takes that long to ask eveything I have to to make sure you know the basics, and I like to ask some non traditional questions just to evaluate character. Plus all the crap Narlock got on the forum for his interview style is just about unprecedented on this forum. I mean, people were giving away, and bitching about, interview questions for a current leader on the forum. That's new by me and I've been on the forum since it was on the offical web site. How much must it suck to come up with an interview style/questions, give it to a few people then see it posted and debated on the forum? Before Narlock there were like 6 semi-regular Masters on mostly of high levels and the leader was out to lunch. (I loved how Jafel claimed it didn't matter that he wasn't on because there were so few master's applicants. Then when I get inducted I see like 25 scrolls from applicants quite a few of them on their second or third scroll.) After Narlock we have a wide spectrum of levels, active members, a new record keeper and lord adept and we did a decent job of holding the ragers at bay and actually getting some studying/exploring done. He showed up a lot and often until the day he left. No week break to think about it. No leaving all the applicants at level 20 for weeks while he was bored with his character. No 150 hours of waiting until you got an interview (I fondly refer to my 147 hours waiting to get inducted as the Jafel administration.) He did what he did well until the moment he stopped doing it. I hope I'm that good. And in the 6 or so recommendations I gave Narlock, 4 of them were there as Masters to greet me the very next time I logged in. That amazed me the first couple times and I almost came to expect it near the end. He was that diligent. Zelten did not agree with how frequently we were going on raids and not paying attention to major quests or just exploration of all the new areas coming in, but there's no doubt he was good for Masters over all, I think. Very few, if any, idiots were admitted, quite a few people were brought in, and he didn't get drunk and crash the Tower into an iceburg. I think that's a good run. He certainly won't go down as one of the greatest leaders of all time, but he certainly won't go down as a bad one. > Anyways, very interesting char, good luck with the next !
