I believe it was my first, or second character... a warrior of some sort. Some Paladin asked to borrow my treasured jeweled broadsword. I responded... "No way, this is one of the best weapons in the game!"

My question is this... was everyone this stupid at first? How long before you learned what roleplay actually was? And if so, can you give an example?
