Either way you look at it, riposte and concealed are going to take a bit of time.

And since a few of the dagger specs can be used to start combat, I think they might be easier to master.

So I would therefore go with sword first in the practical sense, since swords are probably better for
tanking and ranking as well.

And a dagger will help more in the pk buisness, especially with that extra edge that you might need at hero that you wouldnt need at a lower rank.
