From what I have noticed from my polearm and spear specs.... yes.

It seemed to me that bash was a lot more effective in fights.

But of course I have no idea how size is affected with
legsweep.

Maybe it is more effective that trip if your legsweeper is big.

But yes, from what I noticed, legsweep was almost the same as trip.
