I really liked the idea of being able to collect a suit of non-limited gear before the Muskul tells you 'as I have said all I could have done through the rites is just flee..for charge set.' Rather than doing that, perhaps he should have asked for his charge set skill to be set to 0 and reset Ludi
Altrael was pretty unhappy with the rites overall. Not unhappy that
he lost, but didn't feel like the rites were a fitting way of deciding
the leader based on the rager idea of honorable combat. At least that
was my impression from things you said during the contest. We fought for
an eternity in the big scrap, and you were the only one who had
me anywhere near killed in it. We didn't fight in the one on one,
but it would have been a very interesting fight. Mace spec versus
assassin, I think I would have won, but it'd come down to how lucky
you got on the kot/kans and me with boneshatter and cranial. As a
defender Altrael could heal wicked fast with bind wounds and field
dressing. It would have been interesting.

support one of the other two, shouldn't that count for something? My
dislike for Ioanis had nothing to do with losing to him in that fight,
it was based on all the time we'd been in the village together.
the leadership was mine if I'd wanted it. As far as Rezkirat or Ioanis
after that, who knows if what I said meant anything. Maybe Rezkirat was
who Holtzendorff had in mind the whole time. You'd have to ask him.

Alright. Ioanis beat me in the one on one. I swore after that fight
I'd set wimpy 50% if I was in another rites against a giant sword
spec... Then I go and get tooled by Minalcar because I forgot to do
it again in the next rites. The fight was cool. I thought Ioanis was
still stipped and eyejabbed when I lashed him in that fight. Sadly
he wasn't, so I got flurried to writhing. I wanted to keep fighting
to the end, but Holtz called the fight off. I think he posted a log
of that already.
5 of the 8 people in the scrap (9 counting me.) Not exactly a poor showing
on my part. There were 3 giants in that fight, none of the weapons were
anything but physical attacks, and I'm vuln blunt.
one of us before the fighting. They lasted quite a while, so it's
not like these brief statements were counting for a whole lot. Even
so, he didn't exactly sit and puzzle over Ioanis or Rezkirat. I'm pretty
certain I would have been leader if I wanted it. I honestly didn't have
time to be the leader, but I wanted to participate in the rites. At the
time, as you can see from the log, Battle had assloads of heros. We
completely dominated the hero ranks, but one level 30 master could get the
orb back unopposed. Rezkirat isn't fighting other ragers in this log because
we really didn't have his rank. So I really felt we needed a younger leader,
and I didn't think much of Ioanis.
For one thing, Arlian and Jythriadoc had to get uninducted so that their songs
worked on the rest of the group, but that made them the only two who could actually
get thirsted into. Thirsting ragers don't attack each other, so that was a HUGE
penalty against the bards. Even so, they were the most dangerous to us in some ways,
so I think everyone made efforts to kill them quickly. They could have done alright
if they had time to sneak around, run in on two people fighting and sing some nasty
songs, but I ran right for Jyth as soon as I could, and Arlian can't exactly avoid 6
thirsting ragers, 2 of which can hide. Obviously berserker versus non, it's pretty
obvious the berserker is going to win in most every case. Altrael did really well as
a defender, but I think only an assassin could have.
fights. It makes so much sense, aside from the time it would add to the process, I have
no idea why it isn't part of the rites. Knowing what armor to get for yourself and to use
against your opponents is a huge part of winning battles. Being able to re-equip naked
quickly is also a huge part of being a rager. I also suggested it to Thror before the second
rites I was in, but he scoffed at the idea. I'd be curious to know why. I do think the
imms are taking into account your race/class/rager path when looking at the fights. Leit, a
scout thief, beat Muskul, who is a polearm/h2h berserker tattoo'd by BoltThrower. That makes
Muskul look like he doesn't know how to fight a thief, but talking to him after, he told me:
Muskul tells you 'But that would be a low tactice'
after the rites. But hopefully Holtz knew what was going on and didn't fault Muskul for his choice. I
certainly wouldn't. I think most of the people in the rites would know how to deal with charge set. Leit
would have been screwed in the one on one, but certainly in the big scrap most of us had ways to avoid it.
