For the most part, I've played classes who don't have a disabling sort of skill/spell. No sleep, halt, etc. I've also played so far just using a telnet program that supports ANSI color, along with a few F-key macros.

Given these paramters, it seems virually _impossible_ to PK someone one-on-one even assuming I have offense/defense advantages. It just too easy for opponents to flee. When I move onto the same square as them, they're almost always able to move elsewhere before I can initiate combat.

My question, then: Is it, for all intensive purposes, a _requirement_ that one connect via a MUD-specific client in order to be an effective PKer? Or am I just not creative/skilled enough to pull it off w/ plain-jane telnet?

Triggers that initiate combat seem to be the only good way to "chase" someone once they've started fleeing...
