Agreed, agreed, and then some. I played 3 LE human Empire conjurers within 4 months. Why? Because I lacked imagination? Because I was stuck in a rut? Not really. Because conjurers' BEST point is requiring NO practice. Literally. The first spell I mastered as Peroleth was clairvoyance, at hero. Ahzesh mastered parry on the 4th Circle of Hell. Peroleth had word of recall at like 80%. I used to be a real practice nut... Athrakagar had nearly all 100s on a fire giant (ugh)... Dhaevor DID have all 100s, but he's an arial so it's a bit less ugly. But it really gets very, very tedious. A huge part of why I never made the fire spear/mace I had in mind (and I have a 2-page role sitting on my HD for him, and it's a cool role, too) is because I can't bring myself to practice for 50 hours before hitting level 20. I had an invoker a while back, trying to become an Ehren, whose RP strictly demanded ranking solo (this is HARD as a gnome invoker). I had lots of fun every time I talked to anyone, and I really liked my role. But I couldn't get past the fact of "Yes, I can have lots of fun and this is a cool char when I get to actually do things with him, but at least 250 hours of his life are going to be spent practicing spells and ranking painfully slowly on my own, with no interaction with anyone." It just didn't seem worth it.
> I've enjoyed CF for a long time, and I enjoyed interaction with Nepenthe as a mortal and immortal. But I think the revamp on Invokers was terrible. The idea that I _must_ actally practice to learn spells is terrible. That is what the command "practice" is for. The same change has been incorporated into other classes, and spread to the game as a whole. It brings a level of realism to CF that I don't find appealing. I basically decided if I'm going to spend time practicing, I might as well be actually learning something in real life.
