More non battleragers have been blessed by the gods than battleragers, so there isn't the slightest shred of evidence pointing towards magic being bad in the religious sense of the word in the slightest.

Perhaps mages should not be able to get tattoos and only empowered non-mage classes should be able to, cause more of a religion magic divide.
