The two most infamous drow shaman that I can think of were
Flarandros (imperial drow shaman)
Mierin (shadow drow shaman)

Public opinion on their abilities ranges from death incarnate (both preyed largely on newbies) to no-talent hacks (everyone's a critic, and some critics are just plain mean :P). I don't think game mechanics-wise it is the most amazing choice you can make, but there are some things to be said for little drow quirks like sneak, intelligence, and avg hp gain of a shaman not ranging all that widely.

Now, personally, the most deadly shaman I can think of was Savryn, a human imperial shaman. Savryn just brutalized his range and empire basically just steamrolled uber alles (from my recollection). Empire was probably at one of its most powerful points, then. Basically, there's something to be said for humans, as well.

And, of course, there's my favorite evil shaman, the half-elven Shinkoujinei (half-elf scarab). I wouldn't advise that combo, but he was great.

Luck.
