What about the strategy of using crescent kick to disarm instead of the disarm skill? And, someone mentioned lagging kicks. Scissor kick, for example, can send a person to the ground (to judge by the echo), so wouldn't this be a lagging kick? Finally, if these kicks lag, why practice trip?
