Raymond E Feist - Unlike Quinthen I REALLLY like the serpent war saga (better than riftwar - cept Pug needs to be killed off). Would suggest reading the books in order (ie riftwar then serpentwar though its not entirely necessary)
wazzez name (Patrick Tilley I think)- the Amtrack Wars series, makes for a good read.
series from waaaaay back in the sci fi mold
Hill, Douglas: EXILES OF COLSEC (3 book series) - and some of his other stuff for that matter.
Terry Brooks - both shannara stuff and the knight of the world series (which is not really fast enough moving or long enough for me).
Enders game I just read the other day which is pretty good.
cant stand Tolkein - really I cant read his books since I was twelve (too boring). Though I will watch the movies.
