Don't you see that, exactly like I said, it's a "matter of preference." If you want to take a more defensive stance in battle you use a sword rather than an axe. If you want to deal out a nice amount of damage you use an axe. It obviously depends on the situation. For you to say that parrying is not good and you're going to ALWAYS want to use an axe is quite simply showing your dim intelligence. I agree with you completely that wands are a necessity for a high level AP, but that doesn't mean you don't want to parry. What about this scenario: An AP that likes to parry and uses plague/blindness/etc etc to wittle down their opponent? Geez man, there's countless option, to say that axe is *always* better than sword is just ridiculous. -Zepachu, annoyed by rude people. > No. Axes are better than swords, period, end of story. Perhaps you will say 'But no! I like parry! To parry it is good!' (I'm looking at you, Rooqweaz). This, unfortunately, is wrong. Wrong-o. > * I'm sure some superstar has had a .500 PK ratio without wands, and I'm sure Bob the Blind Prophet can whoop it up without wands, but spare me. > Just the two cents of somebody who's actually played one of these boring fuckers to a fairly high level. :P > Irazhul
> As an AP, you will suck without wands at 35+. Yes, that's right, j00 w1ll sux0r. You will not be a competetive, high level AP without wand usage*. However. When you use wands, you're Superman. Hit, hit, graze, graze. The problem, in 75% of PKs, is not parrying, because why the hell do you care about parrying when you're taking hits and scratches? The problem is doing damage, and doing it fast. You can fight Mr. Rager Arial Sword Spec and tank him for 20 rounds easily - but you can't hit the fucker unless you're busting out the evil two handed 5000 lb axe from Hell**. This is my advice to prospective _high level_ APs (if you sit at 30 forever, sure you can go without wands, but get into the big leagues and you're fucked).

> > I love APs. They're my second favorite class next to Assassins. My weapon of choice is usually sword, because of the reason you gave... Keep in mind, though, it's a matter of preference. If you're fighting an assassin, let's say, you're going to want an axe, not a sword, because you'll tear through them since they don't know what an axe/mace is. I don't think looking through logs on here is entirely that good of an indicator, I think it's best to experiment in game.
