A lich snowballs ten times more than an AP when it comes to "corpse charges".

There's a relationship between player skill and staying alive long enough to rack up the phylacs, to be sure. But trust me on this, a lich who's ritualed a hundred corpses since his last death is a totally different animal than a recently-killed lich. There's more to it than just how full their container is....
