I agree they are zealots. They strive to enforce what they believe in, exterminate heretics, etc.
What I do not see why religion should only be evil or good. And not neutral.
For me it is very possible to have neutral religion that has nothing to do with Nature.
And it could have priests which heal&kill in it's name.
