I am not completely sure as it was a long time ago but I never recalled doing it with any of my characters before Abernyte but he made it a part of the cillage requirements to have certain key skills perfected and that ranking was slowed down by people making sure they were well learned in their own abilities.
Abernyte's reasoning behind this was because in any war,battle/cabal raid or defense he wanted to be able to rely on other peopls skills as much as he did his own. I didn't want to end up being messed up because some rager hadn't practiced Cranial enough and missed too much, allowing the defending invoker to burn Abernyte's fur. I will also say that the practice asked was not set at too high a pitch as all races learn at different rates so the requirments were dependant of those things.
