The quest roots/herbs and the yellow flowers and whatnot are gathered by druids, not by magi. Druids sell them. What makes a druid's herbal medicines or a ranger's herbs any different(aside from the fact that they're skills) from a white herb gathered by a druid in Ysigrath?

It's all game mechanics and game balance thinly veiled by weak IC arguments shored up by fancy words and language :) Ragers buy it because they have to, but magi are all of the time using the weakness of the IC arguments, knowing that the OOC ones can't be mentioned in defense, to undermine the legitimacy of the cabal which of course is the IC thing to do.
