There's a subset of Immortals that can be expected to check up on how you're doing with the code. You could consider them to be equivalents of cabal imms for the paladin cabal.
Someone else someplace else in the thread said something along the lines of that this whole deal wouldn't be fair because some paladins might be running around killing lots of goods as part of their religion, etc.
To clear that up, I suggest you try this: First, make a fanatic strategist of a Rager, kind of like Tureanthen's religion was. Next, use magic whenever it seems tactically sound. Let me know how long it takes you to get thrown out of Battle.
Folks, of all the classes, the role of the paladin is probably the most narrowly defined. You might feel like that got opened up by allowing neutral good paladins, but it really didn't. Before you make a paladin, read the code. If you have any reluctance whatsoever with living up to more than one or two of those things, don't make a paladin. There are many valid roles which are not valid roles for the paladin class. For those that you differ, 1) talk them over with your god when you get empowered. You might end up told you're not going to get empowered, but better now than losing it a hundred hours later and discovering there is an area of mutual exclusivity between your chosen role and being a paladin and 2) mention it in your role. Frankly, if I caught a paladin with the evil bracelets without at least one of these things, the chance that they could convince me that it was because of some reason the character had and not just the player making up excuses to try to save his ass are very slim.
If I saw a paladin healing or sancing evils, I virtually guarantee you they'd be choosing to delete very quickly. (Exception: The above does not hold for the very very rare paladin who does NOT use 'being evil' as a reason to fight anyone, ever)
