> Let's define whining here, shall we? Whining is all I've seen you do so far on this thread...as I pointed out on the forum page, not having all the evidence I'll neither applaud nor damn the immortal in question. Whining consists of saying 'I've been screwed over'...dealing with the problem consists of saying 'I fucked up somewhere...I need to figure out how to fix it'.
> I applaud that at least you didn't just delete the character...and hope that you truely do seek BT.
Cut him a little bit of slack. It's a shitty thing to have a character unempowered after the amount of
work he claims to have put into it. I wouldn't be that happy too. However, it's turned into a large whine that
being said...
> Can be worn by goods? Well sure, charred bracers *can* be worn by ragers...will you see a rager wearing one? Not bloody likely. What Proud Blade was trying to point out (I think) is that there are some items that regardless of if they have anti_good flags on them...should probably not be worn by goods...there are a few things like that with evils, but as we all know...evils have a slightly easier ride on the justification boat. I'll give you another example..let's assume that a new item goes in the game that everyone can wear...and it's 'a blood-stained vest of sewn storm giant hide'...if I ever saw anyone who wanted to be a Maran wearing it....they'd be nailed right there for it. Just because the game will allow you to do something doesn't mean you should. I'm not saying that there is or isn't anything wrong with the shadow dagger, just saying that description clues...and roleplay should also define your equipment...not just game mechanics.
Easily the best point made so far, but would it have been too much for the immortal
in question to have explained this? Tracker of the Wicked makes an excellent point
in one of the post above regarding the priest being accountable to his/her own god/faith.
From an administrative standpoint, I don't think it's feasible, but it's a strong point
against allowing other immortals to unempower people of other faiths. Of course, (and which is quite
typical) we probably don't have all the facts. I find that many complaints tend to forget
a few important points.
> again, add it to your role. The basic way that a role should work, IMHO is that anything of importance...anything slightly odd, quirky, or off color about your character should go there. Mannerisms, paticular dislikes/likes...etc...stick it in the role.
While I agree this is a case where the role command would have saved his ass, I thought the point
of the role command was to suppliment roleplay. This could have been hashed out rather easily in
a nice roleplay situation. Something akin to switching into the paladin guildmaster or BTs shrine
healer (if he has one).
> I'll take your word for it, but in all honesty...I just don't see anyone on the imm staff fucking up someone else's empoweree for shits and giggles. I know it's a nice theory, but having worked with the people on the imm staff...*shrug* I really can't see it happening.
ah hell, what am I supposed to use to fuel my conspiracy theories.
> Not sure what to tell you, but including a blurb about the fortune you stumbled across and gave away in your role might have been helpful as well...if nothing else this is becoming a classic case of 'what the role command is there for' scenario
Again I'm wondering if that's necessary. If it had been a two way conversation perhaps this could
have been explained. It was pretty one-sided, and since it was a paladin of another god, I would have
thought that a bit more discretion would be used. Then again, I don't know the character's history
or immortal conversations on the topic. Perhaps this character has a history that is not being fully
explained (ie track record of being greedy and hoarding eq etc etc)
