I agree it wasn't nice of him, and that IRL he must be a total ass..but...what is the real issue here?

Is it that he affected someone outside of his PK range?

Or is it the trust that was broken?

If you speak of affecting someone outside their PK range..well...the rank 3 didn't have to follow. He wasn't forced to go...he had a choice...and he made it..misplacing his trust. The poster didn't kill him...Thrym did.
It's like blaming a healer for leading you into a noexit room...and waiting for you to die..then sanctifying it and leaving. The healer didn't kill you, the room did. I know...it's close to a paladin summoning some evil nasty....but the person didn't manipulate the aggro creature...he just led a naieve player to it.
Not nice...certainly not necessary...but not against the rules. Close...but not against the rules.

If you speak with altruistic bent, that the trust should not have been broken, well...that's RP...or just some ass who gets his kicks that way...probably more the second.
He's evil..you can't trust him. It reminds me of my first char on this/any MUD.
A ranger grouped with me and a third, and led us to the Battle outer guardian.
He then told us to attack, because supposedly it was a way to a ranking area. Of course, I didn't know diddly, so I complied...I trusted. He then proceded to attack us, and kill us both. Full loot, of course, with bears.
I was pissed....but the unskilled will always try to win how they can...through treachery. And the beginning naieve player will probably always have to learn the hard way....that trust should not always be given.
It's the way of life, and a hard lesson that eventually everyone must learn.....but a very likely RP for an evil char. I don't have any respect for the players who do those things to others.....but it's not against the rules (And making some rule to that effect would innevitably stifle evil RP to some extent), so we'll just have to put up with it.
