I don't think anyone is expected to live through 18 real life months. I think what is expected is that organizations built around learning all there is to learn (eg MASTER, TROUPE), should have all the relevant information archived for future generations to draw upon. If anything, my limited involvement with the aforementioned events has raised my .. what's the word.. appreciation for "underappreciated" cabals/organizations - makes you wonder: if Troupers could PK.. would they be a better shadow than shadow ever was? I think so, because there are some things that are much more than they seem, simply because the areas that they are much more complex in are not related to PKing, or, at least viscerally related, and yet, just as important to the game. In other words, Troupe would appear to be about more than tending bar, and Master would appear to be about more than collecting gear and killing ragers.
Huh. This is just all to say that Annabelle has a big opportunity here to make a lasting roleplaying contribution to MASTER, and add a little extra oomph to the Recordkeeper position. The best example I can think of is Llarandaz. Hell, he wasn't even a Master, but he took Lichlore *very* seriously, and archived all he knew and passed it down to "apprentices" who in turn passed it to their apprentices, and so on (it's now on Sacer's page and incorporated into Lichdom). That kind of thing seems useless because no one died or discovered a new quest item/spell (until Sacer recognized it and added it to the necromancer class), but, all the same, it adds a little more complexity on its own merit.
Bah. Whatever, I'm done.
