4) Denting requires a mace in the primary wield. How long do you think you are going to hold that mace if you are not threatening him in any other way? Once he realizes you're spamming dent, how many weakening spells does he have handy?
5) Dent works best on certain materials. Much of Z's stuff is made of high-quality lucky special stuff, not tin.
6) I would imagine dent is strength-based. What value will your strength be at after about 3 rounds of fighting?
7) Partially successful dents do not do very much.
8) You can't dent when you are paralyzed by a ghoul, blinded/rescued from, forgotten, slept, or just plain dead.
9) If you're going in denting, you are either going in alone, or you have very dumb friends who are willing to die to watch you get one or two dent attempts in. Have fun taking on Zorszaul alone.
10) TotW's point about pissing him off is a good one.
But hey, it's your con.

THD destroyed his undead, and made him burn a lot of phylactery and item charges. Forcing him to flee does matter, especially if Track the Wicked can come into play. This was a fairly Pyrrhic victory for the big Z.
