I am in agreement that your explanation of honor is how Balgrimnr sees it, or at least, how his Ehren guard perceive it. I note you mentioned that for a person who is fanatically pursuing honor, the slightest slight to his silver armored prestige and reputation would be seen as dishonorable and deserving of death.

But what you have describing sounds more akin to vain-glory, vanity, pride. I do not see how an honorable man would kill a person on the road who helps him when he is set upon by two others. I can see how a person who is desperately seeking honor for himself might attack him, but you can't call that action an honorable act, but an attempt to be honorable. Not all attempts succeed. A fanatical pursuit of honor at the expense of others cannot, should not, be seen as honorable. The person may be honorable in his own eyes, but to describe honor in such a way is to bring it make the word meaningless, because honor should be seen as a quality above one's own perception.

Ultimately, it's all about definitions. Who decides what honor is? In the mud, it's Balgrimnr. He can sets the stage of what it is in the mud. In the world, he doesn't.
