We tryed to first find an arbiter, there was none. We then tryed to find a master or rager... They didnt wanted it. So what's left that accept the chaotic thing? Empire. The equation dont bother the light nor the dark in the expension of the empire, why not give them the thing? By doing that It would have been easier to get the dark Jagaub and taking the equation dont endanger any lightwalkers.

Why taking the equation? Because Jagaub is evil and nobody is safe in town so something must be done to put some balance is law and chaos. If I can add more, more dark benefit from the chaos in town, a lot of lightwalkers are getting killed so getting the equation was a good second explanation to do it.
