First, as to the issue that mages in Sylvan are hypocritical... just because followers of Twist believe magic is hampered by nature, that doesn't mean Warders have to believe nature is hampered by magic. While they are opposed, I don't see anything wrong with believing they can exist together and magic can be used to help nature. Second, the issue of whether sylvan powers are better than Master powers... now, with what's happened to Master powers, I would agree... this is because they were cursed, not because of any balancing issues. Before that, Masters powers were easily up to par and probably greater than sylvan powers. This could be a whole other debate I'm not going to get into. And third, plenty of ragers and sylvan... ragers, yes... sylvan... you have got to be kidding. I spent several weeks being the only sylvan, or possibly having one or two others around at most, before the recent influx.
