Making my first healer, am thinking possinle half -elf. I know gnome gets 25 wis, and can protect against his weakness with spells, but doesn't everybody play them?

As it is my first healer, I would like to hear suggestions from you more experienced players, what weapon should I use? I think staff. Don't need any help on sphere, I have my own plan for that. Any other advice would be truly appreciated.
