What you seem to see as simple, really isn't. Saying no cabal should ally with another is simplistic, and quite frankly, wrong. Why shouldn't one cabal aid another, if the reason is right? You're using Elgadon as an example that the Ragers are in bed with the Warders. What Elgadon did is not right, but Elgadon does not represent the village... Dhaevor does. Why is the Empire buddy buddy with the Tower? In my time, it was because I took over a weak Empire, and needed their strength. As my Empire grew stronger, I relied less and less on the Masters, and finally didn't bother calling them to raid. In effect, at the end of my reign... we had a non-agression pact... that's it. No buddy buddy. Politics have always made for strange bedfellows, and leading a cabal means making a lot of sacrifices. You can't kill everybody, it's an impossibility. You simply try to follow through on your goals, and those of your cabal as closely as you can. Dhaevor can't simply look around and say to himself, gee, everyone but the village has mages, guess we have to kill all of Thera. He does what he can, and fights the battles he can. Should Dawn, Entropy and the Warders be judged evil as a whole because they contain mages? Or should each member be judged on an individual basis? I think it's up to the leader of Battle, and it's no great sin that he doesn't try and crush the Warders... he crushes those who offend the village... mages, and Imperials, because, quite frankly, the goals of the Empire are obvious, and they make themselves an enemy of the Village. Ohh, I'm really rambling now.
