You miss the point, KinSlayer.
The idea behind keeping character assassination off the forum is that people can use OOC tactics to try to bring someone down IC. Often, it is difficult to check which claims are true, and which ones are false, and people tend to believe the worst. The Forum should not ruin anyone's character. Some examples:
1) On several occasions, sneaky Entropists like Jagaub use dopple for something much nastier than PKing... they use it to do things in someone else's name that will sow dissent. I remember grouping with Jagaub a long time ago, and he had doppled the only Arbiter in Thera, with lots of crimes going on. Suffice to say that we had some fun with those who reported crimes. Now, if he was doing something like this, it's entirely possible that some doofus is going to post a log on the Forum so everyone can see that ArbiterX doesn't know the laws, or whatever.
2) Several people have roles that encourage them to act one way in one situation, and other ways when no one is looking. Jullias happens. Spies, snivelers, and unlikely alliances also happen. An Imperial I played a while back constantly met with "undesirables" to increase his own personal power through strategic alliances. Again, if someone were to log me travelling with them, it would give away something OOC that I had likely pulled off IC.
3) It's much harder to ruin someone's reputation in character, and people use the Forum as a copout. I've done my share of in-game slander in my day- it's always good to sow dissent among the enemy, or spread a rumor that works to your advantage, but it's quite difficult. Most of the Empires whining about Ragers would be Anathema if they whined that way in game, instead of finding more clever ways to take their revenge. (Note: combat is not always the best way to get revenge.) Also, many other characters would not be petty enough to seek revenge. Dawnies shouldn't be running around trying to make other people suffer for their sins... they should be trying to talk them into forsaking the evil in their hearts. But sometimes Dawnie players aren't so Lawful Good, so they vent their frustrations here.
Finally, note that many logs are conveniently edited. A lot of "Rager gangbangs" seem to have all the room descriptions missing, so you can't see that the fight was in the Palace or Village. A lot of logs snip conversation before or after that work against the poster's agenda.
So "stating the facts" isn't so easy, is it?
