Figured I'd post this here so you'd see it. I know I should have a good response to what you said, and if I cared enough...could probably come up with one. But let's face it, nothing I say is going to convince you of why I see IRC as a rather bad thing. Nor will I get you to understand why you more or less defending Arolin's "I cheated, I liked it, It was better than Cat's, I'll do it again and again" post drives me to total and complete apathy. I just don't care.
I suppose all I'll say is this...IRC and other sources where cheating is rampant causes this among immortals. Imagine building a neat quest that people have to think, and explore to solve...that you worked quite some time on, being solved by every half-wit who knows how to log on to IRC and chat with someone who is a bit loose-lipped. Frustrating isn't it? Now do that about 4 or 5 times...eventually you don't care, and you stop trying. Imagine now, what would happen if every immortal on CF just shrugged and stopped caring...now, I ask you people who think 'being the best and to hell with the rules' is what is important, is it really worth cheating if it only leads to the game collapsing on itself because the people who make the rules are tired?
I know the majority of people don't cheat, at least that's what I like to believe, and while I haven't hit the point of CF-apathy and become totally jaded...I can see it happening. I don't want to constantly have to watch people for cheating, I don't want to have to make quests/skills/new things so secretive that you need a decoder ring to figure things out. I don't like doing shit like that...so, if it means anything to you people who insist on cheating I'm asking you as nice as I can...please don't.
Apparantly I wasn't as apathetic as I thought I was. Since I doubt this will have any real effect...at least keep in mind what I said while you're cheating, so when it does crumble and fold around you, you won't be surprised.
