average damage comes from D&D, I believe. Each weapon's damage is determined by a dice roll. I think a basic broadsword delivered 2-8 hp's of damage - thats 2d4 (2 four-sided dice). Take the average of that and you get 5. I think it works the same for cf weapons too. Hasn't this been posted before?
