> Are you starting to get the picture here? There was no mass hysteria of "oh god, these are so overpowered! what have we unleashed?!" -- there was just a period where bugs were fixed. End of story. So, the fact that my first conjurer was able to conjure level 60 mobs at level 30, and my last conjurer could barely get level 39 mobs at level 30, with a hefty mana suit... that's "debugging?" I know that's not what you were talking about above, but it is a simple fact that conjurers were, in their initial implementation, overpowered. And many changes to conjurers were made that had nothing to do with bug fixes or corrections for abuse. First, mana/power ratios were SHARPLY raised, especially on nightgaunts... I remember seeing a log on the other board of Calessin with a level 58 nightgaunt in his group at level 42 or something, and even with magical control, he didn't have THAT much mana. That's obviously impossible now. Then, the amount of damage mobs do was much more closely scaled according to their level. When conjurers first went in, level 20 elementals threw out the same raw damage at level 50 elementals, though they were obviously easier to tank. Now, a level 20 elementals busts out awe-inspiring maims and MUTILATES. Then, mana/power ratios were tweaked further, and some sort of sliding level cap was implemented, such that you can't regularly get what I call the "tier 4" mobs until you're at least level 40, and not really consistently until you're level 44 or 45. This scaled cap can be overcome with massive amounts of mana (realistically, you need magical control), but obviously not being able to get a transplendant at 35, or a morosa at 27, is a downgrade. Finally, just before I deleted my last conjurer, I noticed some much subtler changes in the behavior of archons and devils that also qualify as a downgrade, unless I'm missing something, which is quite possible. Anyway... I'm not complaining, mind you. Conjurers were insanely overpowered in their initial implementation, and I was quite comfortable with the power of the class at the end of the line of downgrades. As I've mentioned in a different thread, they forced me to learn to play the class better, rather than relying on insane servitors to pulp my prey. It's just not exactly accurate to say that there were no downgrades, and only bug fixes.
